2021 NCBW Legislative Day: Powerful Black Women LEAD: Legislate, Educate, Advocate, and Deliver!

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Incorporated (NCBW) will hold its Annual Legislative Day, virtually, on Thursday, April 29, from 10:00am – 5:00pm ET. This year’s theme is “Powerful Black Women LEAD: Legislate, Educate, Advocate, and Deliver”.

NCBW’s Legislative Day will recognize the outstanding work and contributions of two legislators on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. The Honorable James Clyburn (D-SC), House Minority Leader, will receive the NCBW People’s Choice Lifetime Achievement Award. The Honorable Barbara Lee (D-CA) will receive the NCBW Pioneer for Progress Award.

NAACP Image recipient and Grammy and American Music Award nominee, After 7, will open the session by singing the National Anthem. The featured keynote speaker will be The Honorable Raphael Warnock (D-GA), U.S. Senator.

Other participants will include leaders in Congress. The discussions will focus on a number of topics including voter suppression, Student Loan Forgiveness/HBCUs, delivering equitable access to the COVID-19 vaccines and understanding Sickle Cell Disease, a common inherited blood disorder that afflicts the black community.
