NCBW, U.S. Census and 100BMOA Partner to ‘Count Us All’
On April 1, 2020, the Census count will take place in communities across America, and the final tallies will significantly impact our neighborhoods.
The results of the Census are the basis for redistricting, the enforcement of voting rights laws, and allocating congressional seats to each state. Census population data is also used by the federal government to distribute billions of dollars to local, state, and tribal governments.
An under count of Black people and other people of color is something that we just can’t let happen. We must push to make sure that the Census is not used as yet another weapon to hurt our communities.
Please read below to find the state your chapter is in and locate your US Census regional contact office and representative. Let them know your chapter is a part of the National partnership with the US Census Bureau and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. and seek every possible resource available to assist you in your efforts to get people counted.
Please take time to check out the NCBW social media sites and don’t hesitate to share information about what your chapter is doing to get people in your community counted.
IMPORTANT NOTE:The U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting thousands of people across the country to assist with the 2020 Census count. For details refer to:https://2020census.gov/en/jobs.html
