National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc.
California Governor Declares State of Emergency

ATLANTA, GA, October 30, 2019. On Thursday, October 24, 2019, the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) responded to a fast-moving fire near the communities of Agua Dulce and Canyon Country.

California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a statewide emergency over the wildfires as mass evacuation continues. He pledged to deploy “every resource available” as authorities fought blazes on both ends of the state and weather increased the danger. The Kincade Fire, which has spread to over 75,000 acres and is only 15 percent contained, continues to burn in Sonoma County, California, as of October 29th.

The mandatory evacuation affected nearly 180,000 people and approximately 54,000 acres have been torched.

As of today, October 30, 2019, LACoFD crews continue to battle the fire both on the ground and in the air. Despite high winds, progress is being made.

For immediate updates, members of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. in the state of California, should follow the L.A. County Fire Department on Twitter @LACoFD. For immediate help, please contact your local police department, hospitals and/or the American Red Cross. Any Coalition member in need of support from the National Office, please do not hesitate to contact us at nationalexecutiveadmin@nc100bw.org or at 404-390-3982.

Please be safe and know that you are in our prayers!
