NCBW and Notable Expert Health Professionals to Hold COVID-19 Public Education Series

Atlanta, GA, August 15, 2022 – The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Incorporated (NCBW) will host a COVID-19 Public Education Series that will bring together notable expert health professionals, community leaders, advocates, and stakeholders to address mental health challenges and vaccine hesitancy in Black communities.

NCBW leadership convened a panel of trustworthy experts in response to the ongoing and still serious COVID-19 Pandemic where variants and subvariants continue to drive infections and present a challenge to Black women and their families. We remain in a critical crisis and NCBW is listening and responding to the concerns and issues surrounding Black women. With children returning to school, the health professionals will also address parent questions.

NCBW has partnered with the United States Department of Health and Human Services (“HHS”) COVID-19 Education campaign, We Can Do This and Black Coalition Against COVID to ensure an effective educational delivery across the United States. Some of the participants will be NCBW National President Elizabeth A. Jones and First Vice President Minnie J. Miller, as well as respected and nationally known members in the advocacy and the medical community. The participants will provide foundational information and context that will inform attendees about health disparity issues that affect Black women and girls. The objective is to foster healthier communities and address health outcomes and inequities.

The series will be facilitated by Dr. Reed V. Tuckson, former Commissioner of Public Health for the District of Columbia, and Managing Partner of Tuckson Health Connections and Co-Founder of the Black Coalition Against COVID. Dr. Tuckson has been a leading voice in healthcare issues throughout his career and is a major player on healthcare nationally. Dr. Tuckson has collaborated with community leaders and residents to advance health initiatives. NCBW has also partnered with Black Coalition Against COVID, health leaders from across the nation that provide science-based facts and information needed to drive COVID-19 prevention.
